We’ve been looking at this story so far from the angle of how the text of this speech ended up in the hands of the CIA. We’ve learned that it was a tract published by Einar Åberg and a copy of that tract was sent to the CIA by Leslie Adams, a resident of New Zealand who published The Manifesto: the paper that tells the truth.
So how did Einar Åberg get his hands on this? Where did the information about this speech originate? Is the speech real? Is the rabbi real?
As I noted in a previous installment of this series, Åberg was a publisher of antisemitic material. He resided in Sweden, and often ran afoul of that country’s hate speech laws. In fact, he spent time in prison for his publishing efforts.
But Åberg was not the original source of this text. He received it from a colleague in the United States named Eustace Mullins. Mullins was a writer. In fact, he was a disciple of the poet Ezra Pound. Through his relationship with Pound, Mullins was encouraged to write the work he is probably most known for: The Secrets of the Federal Reserve, in which he claims the formation of the Federal Reserve was a Jewish plot. That story itself is probably worth unpacking, but it will have to wait for another series.
Mullins writing often involved an antisemitic slant. As such, he became involved with a number of neofascist groups through the 1950s and 1960s. One of those organizations was James Madole’s National Renaissance Party.
You know who else had a connection with James Madole through the NRP?
That’s right: Einar Åberg.
Åberg would often receive material from the NRP for international publication and distribution, and he was known to collaborate with Mullins on these tracts.
Now we know who sent the tract to the CIA (Leslie Adams), who published the tract (Einar Åberg), and the relationship through which the publisher of the tract received it from the US (Eustace Mullins).
But what about the validity of the tract itself? How did Mullins get it?
